O DEATH NECKLACE

I was looking for new ways to incorporate mixed media into my original jewelry and make it more sophisticated when I came across some pointed coconut beads I really liked. I’d been researching depictions of death for a now scrapped comic project and I liked the way John Milton described Death as having a crown, a shroud, and poison darts in Paradise Lost

O Death Necklace was laser cut on birch wood, hand painted with wood stain and acrylic paint, and fringed with coconut beads on brass jump rings. Pendant measured 2.5 in wide x 3.75 in tall x .125 in thick and hung on a braided, 16 in black-dyed 3 mm leather cord with a 3 in gold-plated brass extender.
